We based our concept on the game ‘Mikado’ meaning ‘Emperor of Japan’, where coloured sticks are dropped and players have to skilfully remove their chosen colours. We created a super scale version of the game using traditional bamboo
scaffolding methods to form a series of self supporting structures to the three facades of the shop, reflecting the random formations of the sticks. Locally sourced bamboo poles were used, featuring LED-lit cut-outs for increased effect.
