Construction of Dexter Moren Associate’ design for a new InterContinental hotel in London’s St. James Park has started on site. DMA’s scheme will transform the existing Queen Anne’s Chambers to create a luxury 5 star hotel featuring a new arrival canopy and porte cochere leading guests into an atrium reception.
The prestigious ‘Queen Anne’s Chambers’ has its facades at 22-30 Broadway, 37-45 Tothill St and 1-3 Dean Farrar St and comprises a basement, ground floor level and five upper floors. Originally built in the 18th Century as a hospital, the building has more recently been used as office space with retail outlets along the ground floor.
DMA’s scheme will transform the space to create a luxury 5 star hotel featuring a new arrival canopy and porte cochere leading guests into a multi-level entrance atrium.
The conversion will retain much of the original facade and provide a bar & restaurant, conference facilities, 254 luxury suites and bedrooms arranged around four distinct wings.
The project is expected to be open in late 2011.
