Dexter Moren Associates has secured planning consent on behalf of its clients, Blackfriars Investments, Aviva and Travelodge Hotels Ltd for a 111-bed hotel on London Road in Twickenham.
The new build hotel will be positioned adjacent to Twickenham Station, a short distance from the English national rugby stadium.
Sited at the end of the existing Regal House, a long 10 storey sixties office building, this infill development will effectively act as a bookend to Regal House, creating a new gateway when approaching Twickenham town centre and on arrival to the station.
Herbert Lui, Director at DMA states “The composition of the proposed hotel is a result of an in-depth understanding of the site and its constraints, turning them into generators for a unique solution that is manifested in an engaging building that is complimentary to Regal House and the surrounding context in Twickenham.”
On granting consent the planning inspector commented: “The proposed development is a high quality design that is appropriate in its context, and has improved the character and quality of the area in which it lies. I consider that it deals in a generally exemplary way with the constraints of the site and the opportunities afforded by it.”
