Having completed the Hotel Indigo Kensington project for IHG and owner The Cairn Group, DMA are working with our client once again, this time to complete a concept design for a significant refurbishment to the Gerrards Cross hotel conference and events space.
Our brief required us to develop a concept proposal which is multi-functional to tap into both the buoyant wedding market and the business orientated focus of the brand.
In order to achieve this balance the design draws on the site context, using the idea of nature and organic forms to provide versatility and help connect the different spaces.
Planned over two levels, the refurbishment will provide a casual prefunction space with bar and lounge, an arrival atrium, and two key adaptive event & banqueting suites. Upstairs a series of meeting rooms and a “creative attic” will provide technology driven spaces to accommodate formal and informal working sessions.
Flexibility is at the core of the scheme. A timber pre function feature back bar can be shut down when not in use and become an art piece with subtle lighting spilling out from within. Furthermore the multi-functional bar can transition seamlessly from a daytime conference meeting table to a bar at night, which can cater to function and operation requirements.
The internal furniture has been specified with the intent that it can be used externally as well as internally, breaking down the divide between the interior and exterior spaces.
