Yas Island, Abu Dhabi
Located at Yas Island, a world class sporting & leisure destination and home to the F1 race track, DMA have worked as lead consultants to deliver the architecture and interior design concept to RIBA Stage C for Accor Hotels.
The scheme encompasses four components, a 250 bedroom Ibis Hotel, a 350 bedroom Novotel Hotel, 50 serviced Adagio apartments, and spa & leisure. While each hotel is designed as a distinctive entity, the hotels will share back of house facilities in order to optimise function and efficiency. The hotels link to a new retail mall at the heart of Yas Island. The scheme aims to maximise the use of natural and passive energy systems and these form part of the overall design. Deep facade construction with vertical and horizontal Bris-Soleil on windows has been designed to promote facade cooling and maximise shading to bedroom interiors. Evaporative cooling to the external dining area is provided by an infinity pool waterfall.
Our interiors team has worked closely with our architecture team to interpret Accor’s brand requirements to suit the local market, and continue the theme of expressing the building as four key elements; simplicity (Ibis), functional elegance (Novotel); sensuality (spa & leisure) and personality (Adagio).
