Montcalm London City Hotel at The Brewery
Fronting Chiswell Street and bounded by Milton Street & Silk Street the Montcalm London City hotel provides 235 luxury rooms with associated leisure facilities in a prominent location between the Barbican and office towers surrounding Moorgate. Guests access the reception via an existing central archway leading through to a cobbled courtyard and a double height lobby featuring brick vaulted ceilings. The ground floor includes a series of meeting rooms which open out to the courtyard. The bar and restaurant occupy the two corner ends of the building envelope retaining traditional frontages. These spaces operate as a public entity in addition to servicing the hotel guests. Appointed for our hotel specialist ability to refurbish and replan complex historical buildings our architectural team secured planning for additional rooms and reconiured key spaces to provide an impoved guest experience.
In 2012 the project was awarded the City Heritage Award for "the outstanding refurbishment and returning life into what was one of the City of London’s largest manufacturing business enterprises of its time, the Whitbread & Co brewery."
