Marriott Kensington

This conversion of an existing hotel features a new entrance atrium with the distinction of being the tallest hanging glass facade in Europe when it opened in 2003. Designed to entirely re-brand a prominent yet unremarkable building, the design intervention is intended to create a landmark new Marriott hotel with fully re-furbished bedrooms and new suites, restaurant and conference facilities. The atrium forms the heart of the hotels public facilities accessing the coffee shop, restaurant, bar and leisure club.

The design of the London Marriott Kensington creates a state of the art new image, public space and facilities that I wouldn’t have thought possible in the transformation of a 60’s tourism assistance grant hotel. It’s hard to believe it’s a conversion rather than a new build.

We are gaining business from local residents as the stunning design has created huge kerb appeal. People are prepared to cross the threshold and on our opening weekend we got sixteen rooms from walk in guests attracted to the hotel when passing.
