This new Hilton for Splendid Hotels will become Tate Modern’s closest 5 star hotel when it opens in May 2012. Designed within strict height constraints, the hotel is conceived as two adjoining forms, one low and one tall, linked by a volumetric glazed entrance and inner lightwell. The hotel’s layered facade of brick, metal and glass is designed to create a contemporary insertion reflecting the tonality & character of the surrounding context. The hotel will feature 280 luxury bedrooms & suites, an extensive leisure club and a conference facility with 700 person ballroom. Retail units will enliven the street frontage.
