On Monday night, Dexter Moren Associates with Bradbrook Consulting and FF&E procurement specialists F2E, hosted the Hotel Property Network at The Ampersand Hotel. Guests active in the design, development and investment of hotels mingled whilst enjoying canapes and vino in The Games Room. A display of before and after photos showed just how extensive the transformation of the hotel has been. Since opening late last year The Ampersand Hotel has received significant press attention, is rated as one of London’s top hotels on Trip advisor and has won the International Hotel & Property Design Award in the 50-200 bed category. 15.04.13 Green Light for new Family Homes in Earls Court
The London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham has granted planning consent to Favorwell Ltd, an associate company of Cockpit International, an international real-estate developer based in Singapore, for Dexter Moren Associates design of nine family-sized townhouses on Lillie Road, Earl’s Court.
This is a rare example of a development which provides new spacious family homes in the heart of London that also have the benefit of private outdoor space and off-street parking. The project was designed to support the Council’s intent to deliver more housing suitable for families. Planning success was also enhanced by the positive consultation process undertaken with local neighbours.

27.03.13 Bedford Council approve riverside hotel
DMA’s plans for a 100 bedroom hotel along the Great Ouse River have been approved by Bedford Council. The hotel for developer Coplan Estates frames a new public square leading from the river offering uninterrupted waterfront views from every bedroom and public areas in both eastern and western directions.
12.02.13 Plans approved for a new hotel in the heart of Wembley
Brent Council planning committee has approved our plans for a new hotel in the heart of Wembley town centre, only moments away from the iconic Wembley Stadium. The project for Euro Hotels Group entails the conversion of the former Valiant House, a three storey disused office building into a 51 bed hotel. The internal core will be reconfigured to allow for double & family sized rooms as well as the necessary upgrade of services. The redesigned entrance provides a welcoming & accessible reception and lounge area with interiors facing onto the High Road to create an active street frontage.
15.01.13 Green Light for serviced apartments
Dexter Moren Associates have secured planning on behalf of Empyrean Developments for 27 serviced apartments on Bounds Green Road, Haringey. The scheme focuses on the refurbishment and conversion of an original Victorian building, roof replacement and the addition of a full-height four storey rear extension.

InterContinental London Westminster has opened its doors in the heart of Westminster. The extensive redevelopment has been led by award winning architects & interior designers Dexter Moren Associates, converting Queen Anne’s Chambers, a former government building, into a luxury hotel.

24.10.12 Two Boroughs, One Building
DMA have worked strategically to help our client achieve planning consent for the development of a new commercial building at 23 – 25 Pensbury Place. The site straddles both Wandsworth and Lambeth Boroughs, requiring separate applications and a creative approach to overcome their differing policies. The new combined development of 1258sqm covers four stories and will house a warehouse on the ground floor and offices above. Building materials include dark horizontal and vertical fibre cement panels, contrasted against brightly coloured ground floor doors.
02.10.12 DMA branch into sports design with first stadium project in Russia
Dexter Moren Associates have secured their first sports project in Russia for FC Spartak Moscow. Set to become a new home for the football club it will also serve as a key venue for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. DMA’s facade design will provide a state of the art stadium that reflects the tradition and history of Moscow’s national football club. read more »

Dexter Moren Associates have scooped the International Design & Architecture Award 2012 for The Ampersand Hotel in the 50 – 200 bed category, beating competition from The Sanctuary Hotel in New York, Syon Park Waldorf Astoria, and the ME Hotel in London by Foster + Partners. The awards celebrate the best in hospitality design and attract entries from across the globe.
20.09.12 Family housing proposed for Earls Court
Dexter Moren Associates have submitted plans into the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham on behalf of Favour Well Ltd to redevelop the brownfield site at 39-45 Lillie Road Earls Court into nine family dwellings. Designed as a hybrid between a traditional London terrace and courtyard mews house, DMA’s proposal gives it a contemporary edge with the inclusion of split level terraces and extensive glazing to the internal courtyard facades to create bright living spaces with outdoor amenity at all levels.

28.08.12 Premier Inn Dalston secures planning
DMA’s plans for a six floor hotel on an empty site at 25-27 Dalston Lane E8 3DF have been approved by Hackney Council. The Premier Inn hotel will have 90 bedrooms with a ground level bar & restaurant. The building features brick facades, with dark grey and light grey, intended to articulate the two buildings.

18.07.12 Comfort Inn Victoria : Refurbishment complete
Comfort Inn Victoria has undergone a major refurbishment to include the reception lobby, corridors, public areas and breakfast rooms. The client brief detailed the need to inject a chic and trendy feel to the overall scheme. Dexter Moren Associates’ Interior Team responded with an interpretation based on a “contemporary design with strong London connections”.

Leeds City Council planning committee has unanimously approved DMA’s plans for a 5-star hotel fronting Portland Crescent. The 206 bedroom scheme for developer GB Group will feature a destination roof top bar providing breathtaking views across the city. read more »
28.06.12 RIBA Photography Competition Winner
DMA’s John Harding has been announced as a winner in the RIBA Photography Competition. His striking image of The Shard, London was selected from over 90 entries received from as far as Hong Kong. The distinguished panel of judges were looking for images that captured interpretations of architecture in 2012. Dexter has been invited to join a panel of distinguished speakers at the Turner Contemporary in Kent. Dexter Moren Associates’ proposal for a 90 bed Premier Inn hotel has been submitted into the London Borough of Hackney. Fronting Dalston Lane the proposed six storey hotel will sit opposite the recently completed Dalston Square development and overground station, actively contributing to the ongoing regeneration of the area.

Located in EC3 within the City of London, 4C Hotels have recently secured the 2.13 acre Minories Estate which will be redeveloped as a key gateway into the City. Dexter Moren Associates are currently working up feasibility options for a mixed use scheme.

23.04.12 Premier Inn at T5 Heathrow opens
Arora Hotels engaged Dexter Moren Associates to design an efficient and contemporary hotel at the site of the former Longford House at Heathrow’s T5. The building takes the form of a rainscreen coloured box that hovers on a glazed/solid masonary box. Providing 400 bedrooms the hotel extends to five storeys and includes an 18,000 sq ft bar/restaurant/coffee area. The Premier Inn Hotel for Arora was realised by contractors McLeer & Rushe and White Ink.

20.04.12 Lillie Road Housing Earls Court
Cockpit International have appointed DMA to design nine family-sized houses within a landscaped mews off Lillie Road, Earl’s Court. The concept for the design of the houses is to create generous living spaces that are flooded with natural light. The facades offer a play of quality materials, elegantly proportioned shapes and protruding recessed planes to provide a unified architectural expression across the mews whilst clearly indicating each property as an individual home.
18.04.12 DMA secure planning for MyHotels
Dexter Moren Associates have secured planning consent from the London Borough of Islington for a new 104 bed Travelodge for MyHotels. Located on Isledon Road near Finsbury Park Station, the hotel has been designed over six floors whilst its front facade composition relates to the scale of the adjacent Victorian terraces.
18.04.12 Rethinking Inclusive Bedroom Typologies; A room for all
Dexter Moren Associates have submitted plans into Southwark Council for an inclusive 50 bed extension to the Holiday Inn Express, located on Southwark Street near Blackfriars Bridge. Consulting with DBA Inclusive Design and the GLA, DMA are currently rethinking the typical bedroom model placing emphasis on developing a layout with concealed fittings and built in flexibility, clear navigation and considered lighting to set it apart from rooms that often appear as very clinical.

15.03.12 DMA make the cut for Shanghai Shop Windows
Dexter Moren Associates are delighted to have been selected to take part in the first RIBA Shanghai Shop Windows project. Collaborating with renowned Japanese brand franc franc, DMA will be designing a new shop window display in the city’s Xintiandi shopping centre, to be unveiled in September for owner Shui On Development. The RIBA London initiative is based on the success of the Regent Street Shop Windows event, now in its third year, in which architects create displays for retailers. DMA were one of nine British practices selected from 80 applicants.

DMA’s interior team have been working to refurbish The Morton into a boutique aparthotel. Located on Russell Square in the heart of Bloomsbury, DMA’s design draws inspiration from the ideals of the Bloomsbury Group, a set of writers, artists and philosophers whose members included Virginia Woolf, Vanessa Bell, Roger Fry and EM Forster.

Working on behalf of ING with Wilmott Dixon Interiors, Dexter Moren Associates have completed Travelodge London City. Housed within a listed building formerly used as offices, DMA have reconfigured the building to enable the most efficient use of space, providing a total of 74 bedrooms. Accessed via a cobbled mews off St.Swithin’s Lane, the hotel provides convenient accommodation in the heart of the City.

16.09.11 Helsinki Office Trip
DMA’s annual office study trip took the team to Helsinki to coincide with the opening of Helsinki Design Week. For three days DMA were immersed in Finnish design and culture, exploring a range of iconic projects by the likes of Aalto, Saarinen and Holl to name but a few. As well as participating in the festivities of design week the highlights of the itinerary consisted of a guided tour around the Aalto house, quietly absorbing the atmosphere of the Temppelianko Church and exploring the vast fortification of Suoemelinna Island.

08.07.11 Montcalm London City Opens
Dexter Moren Associates have been working with Precis Holdings since 2010, assisting to convert the former 18th Century Whitbread Brewery into a luxury Montcalm hotel. Fronting Chiswell Street and bounded by Milton Street & Silk Street the new hotel provides 235 luxury rooms with associated leisure facilities in a prominent location between the Barbican and office towers surrounding Moorgate. DMA secured planning consent and reworked the unoccupied building to enable a full service hotel whilst achieving 30 additional rooms.

DMA has helped secure planning permission for a change of use to develop a hotel in Kings Cross on behalf of Romulus Construction Ltd. The hotel, which sits opposite the British Library, will provide 270 bedrooms with offices on the upper floors and retail at ground floor.

19.06.09 DMA win competition to design Thailand Resort
Dexter Moren Associates and J2 have won an international design competition to expand and refurbish the Amari Coral Beach Resort in Thailand.
Situated on a secluded headland next to the popular Patong Beach in Phuket, the existing resort offers panoramic sea views and a private beach.
New luxury accommodation with private balconies and plunge pools, a “grazing” restaurant, bar and lounge form part of the scheme. read more »

Construction of DMA’s design for a new Intercontinental hotel in London’s St. James Park has started on site. DMA’s scheme will transform the existing Queen Anne’s Chambers to create a luxury 5 star hotel featuring a new arrival canopy and porte cochere leading guests into an atrium reception. read more »
22.04.09 Beaumont House is brought back to life
Beaumont Estate in Windsor is set in 40 acres of beautiful landscaped grounds which date back to the 14th century. Originally a private residence, then a boy’s school and a training college, Principal Hayley took ownership of the land and has since invested £8.1 million to restore and convert it into an upscale hotel & conference venue.
DMA were appointed as lead consultants and architects to assist in the renovation and extension of the property which notably included the reinstatement of an 18th Century Chapel for use as a bespoke functions and event space. Our role also involved creation of 72 bespoke luxury guestrooms and refurbishments to public spaces in The White House. read more »

This competition winning design for a 218 bedroom hotel with restaurant, bar and conference facilities for Kew Green Hotels was officially opened today at a ceremony attended by Mr Bill Marriott. It represents the first new build “Courtyard” brand in the UK. read more »
